Choco Theme Header

    First off, I love the new Choco theme and I want to use it for my blog but when I previewed the theme for my site it showed my customer header and it looked great! However once I initiated the theme there is no header and no option to have a custom header. Now I know they can put one on it because the preview showed it nicely on that theme. So long story short, can you guys PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE add the option for a custom header for the Choco them. I am telling you it looked GREAT in the preview. Now I am disappointed because I can't get it to display on my blog and there's no 'header' option on my dashboard for it. I've tried to put the photo in the sidebar but it just doesn't look as nice as it did in the header.
    All the Best,
    Veronica

    The blog I need help with is alifetimeoftraveladventures.wordpress.com.

  2. Hello there,
    There is no custom header option for this theme. What you see is an image in a post. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/choco/

    Do be aware that if you have CSS editing experience you can get the paid custom CSS upgrade and renew it annually. Since there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, I recommend that you don’t buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.

    If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/editing-css/

    If you do purchase the upgrade be sure to read this article before starting your editing > http://csswiz.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/if-you-have-the-wp-com-css-upgrade/

    P.S. I have flagged this thread so our Moderators move it to the Themes Forum for you.

    Timethief, Thanks for your answer. I know there's no header option for this theme but my challenge is that when I previewed the theme before applying it to my blog this morning it previewed WITH the custom header leading me to believe that that's what my blog would look like. However, once I applied the theme the header was gone and sadly so because it really looked sharp with it. My contention is that if the preview showed the header then it can be done for that theme and I would really like if the creator of the theme added it because I think a lot more people would like it if it had it.

    As for CSS Editing Experience I have none and don't wish to pay for an upgrade on something I don't know how to use otherwise I might give it a try.

    Hopefully the theme gods will hear my wishes and add a header to this theme out of the goodness of their hearts. :-)

    All the Best,
    Veronica

    Hi, take a look at my blog, maybe it's what you're looking for: https://opalkatze.wordpress.com/ I made it with dashboard => Design => Background => horizontal. Give it a try :)

    @opalkatze

    I like your blog. Thanks for the tip though I don't see those options on my dashboard. When I go to Background there is no Horizontal option. There's just the option to upload a background picture. Any ideas? I appreciate your input.

  8. @timethief,

    another issue with the theme's (brown) header: title is white, subtitle grey (in a brown them?) and very pale on the dark background. Way to change it? Would be nice.

    By trying to mark some text for copy & paste one cannot see anything, i.e., it doesn't show up in a different color.

    Font is very very small.

    Any way to turn off the Gravatar information on every site?

    One can't edit an article from the homepage but has to go to the site - one click too much.

    Comment box is very small though there's enough space left.

    Putting a small .img in the sidebars image widget seems to leave a too big frame around it, is it a given size one can't change?

    Sorry ;) This ist it a the time.

    @opalkatze

    It's telling me that website doesn't exist. I get an error page. :-(

  10. @veronicatravelblog

    Sorry, got your question wrong. It _is_ the background picture (on my site the coffee beans). You have to try all 4 options and see what looks the best.

    @opalkatze

    Thank you. I'll give it a try and let you know how I do with it. :-)

    Maybe it's the httpS:// , delete the 's' an try http://

  13. Hi,

    just found another one: it's not possible to take a comments permalink (like it was in Misty Look https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:sV5N7nQl4L4J:opalkatze.wordpress.com/2011/01/06/glanzlichter-47/+&cd=2&hl=de&ct=clnk&source=encrypted.google.com).

    Please tell me I'm wrong and the fault is between my ears - I like 'choco' so much with my blog's title 'coffee in my place?'.

  14. @veronicatravelblog
    I don't have those options under the dashboard either, but I can upload an image to cover the whole background under: appearance - background -upload image

    this image goes over the whole background. I don't know how @opalkatze got his horizontal image that goes from side to side all the way across, but a workaround may be to create such an image in a photo program with color in the bottom and your image across the top, save it as a jpg or png and upload it. May work with some fiddling.

    good luck!

  15. Hello there,
    My problem with the Choco theme (which I love) is that I can't figure out how to remove some of the widgets that are default on the sidebar. I would like to remove the "pages" widget and the "meta" widgets. However, when I go to appearance-widgets and click on the sidebar there is NOTHING there. At the moment I don't have anything in the "inactive" area either. Where is this hidden? anyone one have an idea how edit this?
    thanks for any help,

  16. How do I make another Page? When I try, it doesn't show up in the bar at the top. Switching to another theme, however does mean it shows up, Am I not doing something? I'm a novice so need a simple solution.

  17. Hi. Try this support document first:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/#writing-a-new-page

    If that doesn't help, please create a new topic. Thanks :-)

  18. The message above was adressed to jazzloonz obviously :-)

    @cookdear: Please read the article below. It should explain why you don't see any widgets under Appearance > Widgets, yet they appear on the blog:
