Clearing The Sidebar

  1. I am using Journalist v1.9 and have cleared all sidebar content. Still showing in the sidebar are: About> Search> Blogroll> Archives> Catagories and Meta. Can I also clear these to rebuild the sidebar content the way I would like?

I was sure I'd seen options for including these somewhere, but I've been through all of the settings I could find and can't see how to get these off.

The blog I need help with is consumingtheharvest.wordpress.com.

  2. If a theme is "widgetized", when you clear all the widgets, it seems the theme reverts to the default set of widgets for the theme.

    Just add something.

  3. Also, if you switched from another theme (which you did), you must first switch back to the old theme, remove all widgets, and save changes.

  4. Jennifer - that's what happened. As soon as I added a widget all of the previous sidebar content was gone :-)

Panag... - I didn't need to switch back, I just removed all widgets in the new theme as they were all showing on the 'widgets' page.

  5. @kadeeae: That's news! If it's generalized, it means they finally corrected this bug. Thanks for letting us know. Please let me also know which theme you switched from, so I can test things.

  6. Ooo! News! :-)

I was using Andreas09, previewed and then applied Grid Focus - which really wasn't what I wanted, so then applied Journalist v1.9 and have kept it.

  7. Thanks. In the meantime I tested it with some other themes, and it seems the bug got fixed indeed (the switching-themes problem only cropped up after the implementation of 2.7 in December). Thanks again!

  8. Panos,
That's great. It was so difficult to explain time and time again.

  9. Nice to be able to help a bit instead of always asking :-)
