Co-Author Plug-In

  1. We have multiple authors for a single post (one, two or three authors). There are multiple-plug ins for this like "Co-Author Plus" or "Co-Authors" (http://smashinghub.com/15-free-wordpress-plugins-for-multi-author-blogs.htm)
Right now we create a user for each combination which is strange if you have more then two co-authors!

  2. There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and we cannot intsall plugins, upload third-party themes or edit templates or themes. Those found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.

There is no upgrade you can purchase from WordPress.com that changes anything stated here http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ and restated again here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/#important-notes-before-upgrading and restated again here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#frequently-asked-questions

  3. Why don't you just make each author's name a Category and then be sure to categorize posts correctly? THen you can make a Text Widget which links to each author's feed.

  4. Note 1: Regardless of the theme, bylines will only display now if there are at least two authors who both have at least one published post in the blog. There's a work-around for single Author bloggers who do wish to have a byline display on their posts.

Note 2: Only some themes display an Author profile derived from the About You information on this page > Users > My Profile http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/08/15/author-displayed-or-not/

  5. To "timethif": Thank you for repeating all the information I have read over the last two hours...

    Thanks "raincoaster" this will work.
Anyway. To misuse the concept of categories for this simple thing of multiple authors...

This is a request to put this simple feature into WordPress.com

  6. Then that goes in the Ideas forum, so I will flag this for a moderator to move it there.

  7. Thanks!

  8. @stefferber
I had no idea that you had visited my popular multiauthor Post. Thanks for the visit. :)

  9. I have to agree that multiple authors would be useful, but plugins cannot be installed using WordPress.com

If you want a more advanced installation, use a self-hosted WordPress.org installation.
