.com to .org?

  1. Okay I apologize ahead of time because I am sure this is a question that has been asked about a billion times.

(I did search the forums and could not find a related post)

I have a .com and I want to change to a .org site but not sure how to do the change withuot losing all of my posts, comments, etc. I am not very tech savvy so it may be easy but any help I could get on the topic would be greatly appreciated.

I just took on Dream host as a host and I am trying to switch my entire blog over to their hosting services and I just don't want to lose any data.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    ~Matt

The blog I need help with is regawworld.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi Matt,
It's very easy to export your blog contents out of your wordpress.COM blog and import them into a wordpress.ORG install. The file will contain will contain your posts, pages, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags. Once you’ve saved the download file to your desktop than you can use the Import function on another the wordpress.ORG blog site to import.
    See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org

Links (blogroll) must be separately exported and imported and there are 2 methods you can choose from. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/blogroll/import-export-links/
Best wishes with your new install. :)
