.com to .org migration - question about followers and commenters

    Hi happiness engineers and WP gurus,

    We are in the process of preparing a new self-hosted nest for our WP site and getting close to being ready to switch over the DNS records. The site, currently hosted @ wordpress.com is already served via our own domain name through WP domain mapping so I assume that the only thing I will need to do to move the traffic from wordpress.com to our new server is change the authoritative name servers from the wordpress ones to ours and then point the domain name at our new server's IP address. Please let me know if there is anything else I need to do with respect to that part.

    My two questions concern existing followers, commenters, and jetpack. We have the Jetpack plugin up and running on our new server and it seems to be working well. I understand that we can request that our existing several hundred email followers be migrated from the .com instance to our new .org instance.

    1. When we are ready for that follower migration to take place, how long after the request is made will it take to have the email followers migrated?

    2. We have the comment moderation set so that a user's first comment is moderated and then they are clear to comment. Is it possible for that "clear to comment" authorization also to be migrated from our .com blog to our new .org blog?

    Staff cannot transfer any followers using the WordPress.com Reader. They can only transfer only your email subscribers.

    Please do the following:
    1. upload and activate the JetPack plugin on your wordpress.org install
    2. return here and provide the .wordpress.com URL and the wordpress.org URL

    When you do that you can ask Staff about the comments bit.

    We can't transfer the comment authorization over from your WordPress.com blog to your WordPress.org blog.

    Just to confirm, what is the blog url you want us to transfer your email subscribers to?

    Hi,

    Thanks for getting back to me. Right now the new server is sitting at a temporary domain name while we finalize it. We want to try to make the transition for our readers as smooth and seamless as possible, and I think that we will be ready later today. Can you tell me whether migrating the email followers is a "move" or a "copy" of those addresses? In other words, after you do whatever you do, will those followers still be subscribed to the current wordpress.com site?

    No, it's a complete move, the subscribers are removed from the old URL and sent to the new one.

    Ok, we're ready now. The site to move the email followers to is http://libertyblitzkrieg.com. The jetpack plugin is installed and connected. The wordpress.com site URL is http://libertyblitzkrieg.wordpress.com
