Commenters are required to log in to leave a comment although I don't require it

  1. Some commenters are informing me that they are unable to leave a comment. When the try to comment on a post, they are required to sign in to WordPress to leave their comment. I've already disabled the feature where "Users must be registered and logged in to comment". What else could be preventing some readers from leaving comments?

The blog I need help with is marthaleonedesign.com.

  2. This page > Settings > Discussion is where you set up defaults for comments.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/

    Discussion Settings
    Other comment settings
_Comment author must fill out name and e-mail
_Users must be registered and logged in to comment

Note that the prompt to submit and email address and a website URL will still appear but providing an email address and logging in are not required.

You can post instructions for your visitors in a text widget if you wish to set up anonymous commenting. That's easy to do. You copy and paste this into a text widget:

Readers: Note that the email address and logging in prompts do appear for comments on this blog, but providing an email address and logging in are not required.

P.S. Do be sure to set up full comment moderation ie. "An administrator must always approve the comment" because anonymous commenting is bound to increase the amount of spam your blog will receive.

  3. Thanks for the help. I have deselected the requirement that comment author must fill out name and email and have deselected that users must be registered to comment. Problem still persists.

To test it out, I logged out of WordPress and went to my blog as a reader, tried to leave a comment then WordPress required me to sign in. Another reader just tested it out as well and is still experiencing the problem.

    Any other advice?
