Commenters unable to leave comments for past 48 hours

    The Discussion Settings I have DEselected on my blog include:

    Comment author must fill out name and e-mail.

    In other words, commenters do not need to leave an email address when they comment on my blog.

    However, since the comments "upgrade" TWO DAYS AGO, it has not been possible to leave a comment without an email on my blog (except for a few hours sometime yesterday).

    I have mentioned this several times already, but to no avail:

    This has been going on for the better part of 48 HOURS now. Can I, please, get an answer as to whether or not someone is working on this to fix it? Or is the system going to remain like this?

    Since yesterday, I can't leave any comments on people's blogs. When i fill out my name and email address I get a message saying I must be logged in use my email address - but I AM logged in. And it keeps giving me the same message. Help!

    Commmenters on my blog : http://hridyanubhuti.wordpress.com are also facing the same problem since number of days.Few are able to give comments where as many of them are complaining that they are unable to leave comments on my post.please look into this and revert.

    ...is not helpful.

    It does NOT answer the question as to why anonymous commenters cannot leave comments on my blog. Please, see what I wrote in the first comment on this thread and the other thread.

    FWIW -- I don't mind the inconvenience so much as the lack of information. If someone could've just let us know the problem was recognized and being worked on, that would've been great.

    Wow! I'm amazed to see how many times you have posted to the multiple threads on this topic. Your sure must have a lot of time on your hands and that makes me jealous. ;) I have some news for you. Note this notice Staff have posted at the support link:

    Support will be closed over the weekend. We will reopen on Monday morning, March 19th.

    I have a giveaway going on, and most are getting the same message about having to be logged into WP to comment. This isn't just some little issue that can wait until Monday. Any ideas as to 'anything' that can be done?

    What would you suggest? We Volunteers don't have any magical powers that can make Staff appear here to pacify everyone who is upset by telling them they are working to resolve the issues. They are working to correct the problems in the backend. The original threads reporting this issue have been flagged for Staff attention and there is no more that we Volunteers can do. :(

    Hi, I've had reports of people unable to leave comments on my blog too. I guess no one will look at the issue until Monday? Thanks!

    Well, yeah -- I've had some extra spare time over the last couple of days ... because my blog was on hold because the comments didn't work! ;-)
