Please expand by providing more information about this "banner".

We cannot access the php that generates the HTML underlying our blogs. We cannot include any blogger imitated advertising on our blog. We cannot use header images hat are linked to external sites. The header images must be uploaded into our blogs and be on WordPress.com servers.

Amazon stores are not allowed on free hosted WordPress.com blogs.

Aside from a blog being accepted into WordAds http://www.wordads.co/ no blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work or products created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed on free hosted wordpress.com blogs. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.com

On free hosted WordPress.com blog we can use a contact form and/or a PayPal donation button for sale of only products or services created or provided by ourselves.

There is no upgrade you can purchase from WordPress.com that allows blogger initiated advertising on a free hosted WordPress.com blog.

If you do require an ecommerce site, advertising and/or affiliate links you can hire a web host and get a free software install from http://wordpress.org Refer to > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    You're welcome.

  8. Hello again,

I hope I am not bothering you too much, but I am new to all of this, and if you ask me, I really don't know what I am doing (smile).

Anyway, I went to one of the links that you sent me on "Affiliates". and here is what it reads, in part:

    "..................
There are exceptions to this policy. Amazon.com and other select affiliate links are permitted so long as they are not the primary content of the blog in question. Other exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis."

To the best of my understanding, Amazon would not be the "primary content" on my blog. So how should I interprete the above statement ... how do you read this? You are the expert here, so need your help.

    Can't thank you enough!

  9. Good afternoon,

I would like to seek further clarification about affiliate links, pursuant to our previous conversation, seeing that I am not quite clear, and, as I said before, I am very new to this whole concept.

Reading the link that you referred me to before: http://en.support.wordpress.com/affiliate-links/, it is clear to me that, in general, WordPress.com does now allow affiliates links for the purpose of advertising, etc, however I see that there are some exceptions in the same section, that reads:

    "..................
There are exceptions to this policy. Amazon.com and other select affiliate links are permitted so long as they are not the primary content of the blog in question. Other exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis."

Could you please tell me if my interpretation, from the above statement, that Amazon's link (as an exception) is allowed on blogs, is correct? In addition, I believe to have read somewhere else, that HTML code is acceptable - is this correct?

I would like to add that, according to Amazon, they have other affiliates who use the WordPress.com to monetize their blog.

Many thanks for your kind attention.

    gpc
