there is no attach icon in my media library to be able to attach images, everything I am looking up tells me there should be an attach button next to every image file? there is not!
I have tried to attach a gallery and only one image is showing up on the blog post but no gallery?

I don't know what you are reading about attaching images, but the Support doc for the Gallery on WordPress.com can be found here http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/

If you want to find your previous forum posts, just click on your username at the top right corner of any page in the forums where it says "Welcome, (yourusername)"
