Contact Form email space has my email name inserted

  1. Hi all,
I have created a contact form and added it to a menu.
When I click on the contact me tab it opens with my email address inserted in the email space!
I have tried to address this several times by following the instructions to no avail.
    What am I doing wrong

The blog I need help with is peteriches.wordpress.com.

  2. It's your e-mail address only viewable to you, because you are logged into your WordPress account, just like how I've just visited it and it has my e-mail address and name on there. If you logged out there would be no e-mail address there.

  3. WordPress.com uses cookies to keep track of commenters so if someone makes a comment on your blog, the next time they come to your blog, unless they have cleared their browser cache and cookies, WordPress.com will recognize them and complete the details for them. The same is true of contact form use. No one else will be able to view those details in comment boxes or in contact forms. The next person who comments will see blank fields. Commenters will not see each other’s details. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/12/20/wordpress-com-comments-and-discussion-settings/

  4. In addition note that you have an Admin [edit] link and again that link is only visible to you and useable by you when you are logged in.

  5. Logged out, it may pick up your email address as well since wordpress uses cookies and the site knows who you are from the cookies.

Log out, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then take another look at the contact form before logging in and you will see the fields are blank.
