   How do I get into the header text to edit the bit that says "another WordPress blog"?

   Go to settings > general and it is the "tagline" stuff. Make sure and click the "save changes" button when done.

   wow, that was easy. I don't know why that wouldn't be bundled into the appearance > header section but oh well, now I know.

   on the dashboard panel

   dashboard > settings
