Content removed from a Blog, but the link still appears on search engine

  • I am trying to remove a link from a wordpress site, the page has been taken off the wordpress site, but the link (which still works) appears and is active on a google search. The owner of the site says that he has done all he can do to get it removed as it is no longer on his site. Is there anything I can do to permanently remove the link? How do you make a link like that inactive? Thanks for the help and I look forward to hearing some feedback.

If you successfully delete a post or page or blog the result is a 404 page not found when the URL is clicked. Know that we cannot help with search engine issues. http://en.support.wordpress.com/search-engines/

Deleting any blog content and even deleting blogs does not remove any indexed content from the SERPs (search engine page results). Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 – 6 months. To completely remove an entire page from Google search results: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/1663419?hl=en
