Contributors see my dashboard
-
Hi – I am a teacher using WordPress with my students. I have added them all as contributors, but they can all see my dashboard, including comments that I haven’t approved yet. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Any user on the blog needs to be able to access the Dashboard or else they can’t write posts. Please see http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/12/what-are-the-different-roles/ for a description of the different roles.
I see that your blog is set as a private blog, so if you don’t need to let your students write posts, I would suggest only adding them to Settings->Privacy instead of adding them to the blog as Users.

Thanks for the response! My students do need to post, so I thought Contributor was the best role for them. What is really bad, though, is that they can see each other’s comments before I approve them – that seems to defeat the whole purpose of the approval process (in my case, I don’t want anyone seeing inappropriate comments!). Is there a way I can prevent them from seeing unapproved comments?
