Controlling how wp.com posts on my behalf (Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter)

  1. When wp.com posts to twitter, tumblr or facebook, it posts the text of my article as well as seperate posts for any images I have used. I do not want it to do this. Also, when it posts to Facebook, I want to be able to control what the post says, and what images it uses.

The blog I need help with is brotherxaos.wordpress.com.

  2. Hello there,
You are auto-posting when you use an app like Publicize and what it does is use the RSS feed data. That means you don't get to be picky choosy about what it displays at all. It's in RSS feed of it doesn't exist as far as the app is concerned.

Understand that we have no control over the images Facebook chooses or does not choose to use. They are all in the RSS feed. If you want to be picky choosy then I'm sorry but you will have to post manually rather than using Publicize.

  3. Are there other methods of automatically posting to social media that give you more control? Plugins and such? I'll start researching it, but I wouldn't mind an experienced user letting me know what they've gone through to accomplish this.

    Thanks!

  4. There is no FTP access top free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we blogger cannot install any plugins at all. Plugins are for WordPress.ORG installs only.

You can use RSS Grafitti http://www.facebook.com/RSS.Graffiti for posting to Facebook walls if you prefer. RSS Graffiti periodically checks the RSS/Atom feeds that you specify and posts any new entries it finds to the Facebook Walls that you specify. You can get any feed written on any wall (Facebook Profiles, Fan Pages, Groups, Events and Application Profile Pages). In fact, multiple feeds to multiple walls. You choose the combination.

As for other methods for posting to other sites like Twitter clients, etc. you will have to use Google search.

  5. What you want is modulated control, and there is only one way to do this: by hand.
