Converting to WordPress

  1. Is it possible to move a fully functional website and convert it (so it looks and acts completely the same) on a WordPress platform? How would you go about doing that?

  2. A blog is a website and is fully functional. Staff have provided help for those who want to structure their blog like a website. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/

    What’s critical is:
    (1) a clear comprehension of the differences between pages and posts > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
    (2) a clear comprehension of the fact that there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page. But we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.

We organize our posts by assigning Categories to them. When we publish a post it automatically appears on the running page for posts and also on the Categories pages and Archives pages. Note: There must be one published post in each Category in order for there to be anything to display.

A custom menu allows you to display Categories with drop-downs to sub-categories in tabs along the horizontal navigation where normally only Pages tabs are displayed. If you wish you can also include Pages with drop-downs to sub-pages and custom links in your custom menu as well. You choose the order in which to display the foregoing in your custom menu. You choose which to display and which to hide. How to create a custom menu.

Also note that if you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page for your site, and also create a “blog” page for your posts to display on, but that’s optional.

  3. If what you are referring to is exporting your content and links out of your free hosted WordPress.com blog, hiring a web host, setting up a WordPress.org install, uploading a theme and plugins, and then importing your WordPress.com blog content and links into it then see here.

Note: WordPress.com vs WordPress.org: The Differences

  4. What it actually is, the way the website is set up is in no affiliated with WordPress I want to make it affiliated by putting the entire website on a WordPress Platform. It is already hosted and existing. I just want to move it from one management platform to another.

  5. Please provide specific details so we can assist you with this. This is the blog linked to your username http://doseoffaith.wordpress.com/

Is that the site in question or not? If so then I provided the information required to move that content into a WordPress.org install above. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/

Note that free hosted WordPress.COM blogs cannot be embedded into websites and d on this forum we provide support only for free hosted WordPress.COM blogs like the one linked to your username.

This forum is for those who have issues with WordPress.ORG installs. http://wordpress.ORG/support

We cannot help you until you provide us with more detailed information regarding what you wish to accomplish.

  6. If what you wish to do is to import content from a site on another blogging platform into a free hosted WordPress.COM blog like the one linked to your username then please see here > Importing Content from Another Platform or WordPress Blog
