Converting Twenty Fourteen Primary Sidebar to Content Sidebar

  1. Hi Everyone,

Working off a fresh Twenty Fourteen child theme, I have been trying to convert the Primary sidebar on the left (which extends from top to bottom of the home page) to the same height as the right content sidebar (which starts below the featured content and continues to the bottom).

In other words, I am trying to duplicate the right hand content sidebar and put another one exactly like it on the left side of the page (which starts below the featured content area), instead of the current primary sidebar. Any help with the CSS or php code edit locations would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Right! That's not a WordPress.COM blog with an annually renewable custom design upgrade that you are referring to and you cannot get CSS editing support for it here.

This is the WordPress.COM support forum. You need to post to the WordPress.ORG support forum for help with your site because it is not hosted by WordPress.COM.

WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and have different logins, features and run different versions of some themes with the same names http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

If you don't have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

  3. Hi timethief, thank you for your reply and sorry for the inconvience. You must get alot of posts like this from newbies like me. Thanks for your patience. I will check out the wordpress.org forums.

  4. @calebgrey, it's easy to miss where you should post with a theme like Twenty Fourteen since it was worked on by WordPress.com developers. :)

Based on your setup, you should ask for help at http://wordpress.org/support/theme/twentyfourteen which is the support forum made just for the Twenty Fourteen theme. If you can include a link to a sample page where the problem can be seen in action, that would be the most helpful. If you can't include, then just make sure the description of what you're trying to change is accurate—including small CSS snippets for what you've tried already can also help volunteers who want to help you.
