I made a mistake, I used 10 posts on my site compared to the 5 posts as recommended by Worldpress. Is there a way on the dashboard to change the total back to 5 posts?

I don't really understand..... are you talking about Posts per Page? If so, you can change that in Dashboard >> Settings >> Reading >> Blog pages show at most XX posts
If you're asking about something else, try to be a bit more clear.

Right now I have 10 posts shown on my blog site's page and I'd cut the total posts shown to 5.
