Could I please get help with your media upgrade?

  1. I used to link pdf forms and press releases to my pages. How do I do this now? In the old system I could see the URL for the pdf in the media library and copy it for the link on the page, now? Can't find the URL or figure out how to link the pdfs - please help? Thank you.

The blog I need help with is r2arts.org.

  2. ok - figured it out, but is there an easier way? I can no longer get the information I need through the "add media" button. I need to upload my pdfs, then open my page to edit it, then click off the page to the media library and pick the pdf I want to link, then the URL shows up on the right side where I can copy it. Then I click back button twice to get back to the page I was editing and make the link, then update the page and do it all over again - surely there is an easier way?

  3. I have a couple of suggestions for you, yes there are easier ways to work with media such as PDF files.

When you create a new page via Pages > Add New (or a new post via Posts > Add New), click Add Media button. There, you can choose from several options. If you pick "Upload Files", you can upload all of the files you wish to insert - no need to upload them to the Media Library in advance. If you pick "Media Library", you'll see and overview of the files already in your library and will be able to pick the ones you wish to insert.

I hope this helps, let me know if you need more assistance with inserting PDFs.

  4. Thank you, but I do not want to insert, I want to link. My problem is finding the URLs of the pdfs I uploaded to create a link. So far I cannot find that unless I go to the Media Library, an extra step that did not used to be necessary. I must be missing something! I just can't figure out a more efficient method and there has to be one, right?

We are a granting agency for artists. I am trying to create links to our pdf forms so our constituents can download them to their home computer and fill them out at their leisure. I really appreciate any help you can give. Thanks!

  5. May I suggest that you give a try to "Add Media" button, and then use either "Upload Files" (for new files) or "Media Library" (for already uploaded files)? It will help you to add custom text to your post/page, e.g. "Download the form here", with the PDF file hyperlinked to that text. Why don't you give it a whirl and let me know if some steps are confusing, and I'll be glad to assist you further to find the best way for you to link forms to your pages?
