CSS Help with Ideation and Intent Theme

  1. Hi! I decided to try a different theme and went for the new Ideation and Intent theme! Changing colors isn't my strongest point in CSS and that is all I want to really change in the layout. Any help would be great! Thanks!

    1. Is there a way to eliminate the photo sidebar gallery?
    2. How can I change all of my page headings from orange to #239f9f? http://klrizvi.com/about-me/
    3. How can I change the titles of my blog entries and "TAG ARCHIVES" from orange to #239f9f? http://klrizvi.com/tag/travel/
    4. How can I change the background to white and the text to #239f9f of "Older Posts" located at the end of my blog entries?
    5 How can I make the body text smaller throughout the site?

    The blog I need help with is klrizvi.com.

  2. I figured out 3-5! I just need help help with 1 & 2!

  3. 1.

    #sidebar-gallery {
    display: none;
    }

    2.

    .entry-title, .entry-title a {
    color: #239F9F;
    }
  4. Thanks a lot!

  5. You are welcome.

  6. @thesacredpath Thanks from me too for the help you gave to klrizvi, which I've already used on my own blog. If you or anyone else could also help me with my own questions, that would be really appreciated!

    1) Is it possible to change the color of links? I think the orange is very off-putting for most readers.

    2) Thanks for explaining how to remove the photo sidebar. But is it also possible to ADD the 2nd sidebar with widgets to EVERY post too? (As it is, it only shows on the homepage) Or is not having it on posts too fundamental a part of the theme so to speak, and impossible to change?

    Thanks in advance for any help!

  7. To be more specific (sorry), is it possible to REPLACE the photo sidebar with the widget sidebar in every post? As in the same location?

    I was just suddenly worried that even though it may be possible to add the widget sidebar, it might be be located too far right or something.

    Thanks again!

  8. I'm having the opposite problem. The photos sidebar does not appear for me.

    Have uploaded 10 posts. Tried including an 'Inserted' image, a featured image, making it sticky ... no luck. It won't appear.

    Help? :)

  9. @jtur001 and @resumeninja, in the future, can you please start a new thread when you have questions that are separate from the original one and you couldn't already find the answer in the forums? It makes it easier to keep track of things, and it's better for search later too.

    Also, please always include a link to the blog you're working on!

  10. 1) Is it possible to change the color of links? I think the orange is very off-putting for most readers.

    To figure out the following CSS, I opened the theme's original stylesheet and searched for all of the places the orange color code #FC5605 is used:
    https://s1.wp.com/wp-content/themes/pub/ideation-and-intent/style.css?m=1338687765g&minify=false

    I copied the selectors for those and came up with this:

    .button,
    .button:visited,
    button,
    html input[type="button"],
    input[type="reset"],
    input[type="submit"],
    .read-more,
    .read-more:visited {
    	background: #6C9A9F;
    }

    .site-title,
    .site-title a,
    .comment-author-name,
    .comment-author-name a,
    .comment-reply-link,
    .rss-date,
    .entry-date,
    .entry-title,
    .entry-title a,
    .permalink,
    .tag-links a:hover,
    .page-title,
    .image-title,
    .entry-navigation a,
    #secondary .milestone-header .event {
    	color: #6C9A9F;
    }

    Adjust the color code as necessary.

    Note that you already have a rule for ".entry-title,.entry-title a" so you will probably want to remove those from the list above in your case. Also, note that you may want to leave some of those things their original color—some of the buttons will stick out as orange and that might be good. You can experiment with the list until everything looks how you want.

  11. To be more specific (sorry), is it possible to REPLACE the photo sidebar with the widget sidebar in every post? As in the same location?

    It's built into the theme and you don't have the option to change it here at WordPress.com. If you wanted to switch to WordPress.org, you would have full control of the code in order to make a change like that, but it would require editing the theme or creating a child theme.

  12. I'm having the opposite problem. The photos sidebar does not appear for me.

    The custom images sidebar Ideation & Intent will display images from the latest 10 posts that have image attachments. Look at the "Attached to" column in the Media page in your dashboard to see which images are attached and which aren't. Sticky posts are actually excluded from the photo sidebar, so try making the posts not sticky and the attached images should appear after that.
