Custom changes in Twenty Eleven theme

  1. hi, I'd like to make several custom changes to my blog (www.bhavenjani.wordpress.com). I did scour a few forums for this, but not sure I could understand any of the CSS codes/comments. Its great that CSS codes are provided, but also mention what to do with it, where to post it etc:(

    I'd like to
    1. Decrease the header space on my blog (i.e. the white space around 'Travel and Photography' on my blog
    2. Change the font type/ color/ style of the title of my blog (i.e. Travel and Photography)
    3. Change the b/g color of any sticky post I put on my blog (is this even possible?)

    Thanks in advance.

    The blog I need help with is bhavenjani.wordpress.com.

  2. 1. Decrease the header space on my blog (i.e. the white space around 'Travel and Photography' on my blog

    The space surrounding the site title in the Twenty Eleven theme comes from two elements: an h1 element with id="site-title" and an h2 element for the tagline with id="site-description". You can adjust the spacing by editing the em values in the following example. I also included a way to move the search form as you may want to move it up a little if you make the header area smaller.

    #site-title {
    	padding-top: 2em;
    }
    #site-description {
    	margin-bottom: 2em;
    }
    #branding #searchform {
    	top: 2.8em;
    }
  3. 2. Change the font type/ color/ style of the title of my blog (i.e. Travel and Photography)

    To change the color of the main site title, use this CSS

    #site-title a {
    	color: red;
    }
  4. 3. Change the b/g color of any sticky post I put on my blog (is this even possible?)

    To change the background color of a sticky post in the Twenty Eleven theme, add this to your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS page:

    .home .sticky {
    	background: white;
    }

    Adjust the color to your liking.

  5. Thanks designsimply. I was able to decrease the space around the site title using the code you shared. I let the font col and search location remain as is though. But now I have the code and case use whenever I want to:)

    Is there a way to change the color of the font of the body text i.e. all the text that appears in all posts?

  6. Is there a way to change the color of the font of the body text i.e. all the text that appears in all posts?

    You can change the base font color in the Twenty Eleven theme like this:

    body {
    	color: red;
    }

    Change red to a color of your choice.

    Note that the rule above just changes the base color. If there is any text that is using more specific CSS selectors to set the color, then you will need to change those as well. Here is an example:

    .entry-meta {
    	color: red;
    }
