I know I should have this ready but having changed my name servers to the following for the existing domain http://www.pastichetherapy.co.uk :
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
I now fear my emails are not working -I have an A record for web mail and MX records I just need help to know how to create custom DNS?

I see you've added DNS records. Is e-mail working for you now?
If not, please contact your domain registrar to get the correct MX records. Let us know these records and we'll help you set the records.
email not yet working - although I know DNS can take some time to resolve. The MX records I have are:
mail server: mail.pastichetherapy.co.uk 10
I also have the following IP address for Mail: 79.170.44.43
I have therefore entered the following into custom DNS:
A mail 79.170.44.43
MX 10 mail.pastichetherapy.co.uk.
Is this correct?

The MX records are already propagated. If e-mail isn't working, please login to your Heart Internet account and click on the 'Customer Services' button on the right hand bar. The option to raise a support ticket is there.

I think that's where you registered your domain name. What's the name of your domain registrar/provider?
