Customize Header for Greyzed Theme

  1. I have been trying to find help on how to customize and upload my own header for the Greyzed Theme. I understand that the theme does not come with a header option, however I am pretty sure its possible to do by changing the css code.

    I am a complete beginner and not the most computer literate. If anyone can help or guide me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

    Regards,

    Phil

    The blog I need help with is evolutionfsc.com.

  2. Just to add heres my url: http://evolutionfsc.com

    I have the CSS Custom Upgrade as well, just need to know how to do it.

    Sorry if this has been asked before.

    Phil.

  3. The problem with Greyzed it that all the background stuff is interrelated so it is difficult to move things around with out breaking the site visually.

    You have about 190px in height, and 1054px in width, but I would actually recommend only about 1034px in width so that the image would align better visually with other page elements. At 1034 px, it will cover the RSS icon and the arrow graphic.

    If you want to create an image like that, and then upload it to your media library and post the URL, we can help you with the code and placement.

    If you feel adventurous, here is the code. Just replace IMAGE URL between the two double quote marks with the URL of your uploaded image.

    #header {
    background: url("IMAGE URL") no-repeat scroll left bottom transparent;
    }
  4. You can pick an element and set a background image on it. For example, you could add a background to #header like this:

    #header {
    background: url(http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_gJ2sFU4ep8/TgymZUKNgrI/AAAAAAAAAGo/RgHyiSEOK2E/s400/original.jpg) repeat-x 0 50px;
    }

    I used an example image that I found on your blog. You can change out the image URL for your own. If you don't want the image to repeat, change repeat-x to no-repeat.

  5. Whoops. Should've refreshed. :)

  6. sacredpath & designsimply,

    Thanks for the help guys, really great.

    I've successfully added a header, the image itself needs a bit of tweaking on my part but will get there. I was wondering on how to shift the header over to the left?

    Also, would I be correct in doing the following to remove the rss link:

    I've changed:

    #header .rss {
    font-size: 1.2em;
    padding: 0 0 0 768px;
    font-weight: bold;
    text-transform: lowercase;
    }

    To:

    #header .rss {
    display: none;
    }

    Seems to work. Is there a way of removing the 'rss logo' (if not forget about it).

    Thanks for the guidance, I know you probably get bored answering these types of questions. If only we could chat about DeLoreans and Flux Capacitors-now theres a topic!

    Cheers,

    Phil
