Customize new theme without activating?

    Hi there,

I want to select a new theme and then customize it with CSS. Is it possible to set the new theme and start tweaking the CSS sheet without actually activating the theme (making it public)? I would just like to be able to make my design changes before making the new theme public. Any tips would be appreciated, thanks!

The blog I need help with is blog.soulpepper.ca.

  2. There is a CSS preview function.

    Thanks for your reply!

Doesn't CSS preview only apply to my currently active theme? I know that you can make changes to the CSS of your current theme and preview them before publishing those changes, but what I want to do is select a new theme and customize the CSS before it goes live.

So far all you can do is preview the theme settings, in order to play with the CSS it looks like I have to save and activate it first. I want to customize the new theme before making it public, is that possible?

  4. No

  5. Great question! Adding a CSS editor to the new Live Preview feature is a planned future update.

In the mean time, using Live Preview combined with a browser's built in web inspector might get you part of the way. Another possible interim solution might be to create private test blog that's similar and test your changes on the test blog.
