customizing changes won't save (saving messages stays for hours...)

  1. When i change colors in the customize environment the changes will not be saved, the message "saving changes" stays in my screen for a long long time... and even after a long time they don't work! any ideas what i can do?

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is boekenz.wordpress.com.

  2. When using the theme customizer please be sure you are using one of the browsers and versions found here http://browsehappy.com and also be sure you have enabled third party cookies. http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/

NOTE: I do not use the theme customizer. All of the very same functions can be accessed from your dashboard.
    Appearance > Header
    Appearance > Background
Appearance > Theme Options (applicable only to some themes)
Settings > Reading (set a static front page)
Site Title and Tagline > Settings > General

  3. Thanx for the quick answer.. I already use google chrome and I have updated my cookies..
I can activate a theme, but the only problem is when I customize it. Then it won't save any changes, its so weird.

Yes, in the dashboard I can change the header and backgroud, but not the lettertype and color...

  4. Do you understand that no changes you try out aside from those such as Custom Background
Custom Header which are stated on the theme description pages for each theme like http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/sidekick/
will be visible to visitors unless you purchase an annually renewable custom design upgrade?

  5. Note: These are 3 ways to change fonts on wordpress.com blogs.
    (1) Changing font families, colors and size in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page by coding into the HTML editor.
    http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/07/11/formatting-text-pt-5/

    (2) Changing font colors in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page using the #4 icon (Select text color – change the text color) in Row 2 the Visual editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2

    (3) Changing all font families, colors and sizes throughout the whole blog by purchasing an annually renewable Custom Design upgrade and using Typekit Fonts with Staff support. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#custom-fonts
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#custom-colors

  6. It looks like you are using the preview mode for the Custom Design upgrade which is a paid upgrade. Some of the settings in that mode will save but they won't show up on the front end unless you purchase the upgrade.

To go back to the free options, go to Appearance → Themes → Customize → Colors and click the "exit the preview" link in yellow at the top of the panel on the right.

  7. Thanks everyone for the help. I know what I did wrong and know what to do!
    Thanks again!

  8. You're welcome and best wishes with your blog.
