Customizing embedding the portfolio into pages and posts

  1. Hi

I wonder if someone can help me. I have now become familiar with the Portfolio functionality on the Illustratr Theme. My home page uses the Portfolio Page Template and I have secondary page where I want to embed the [portfolio] using the custom attributes provided on the Illustratr support pages.

However, I would like to make two customizations and wonder whether this is possible?

1.) On the home page (with the Portfolio Page Template set), is there any way that I can have more than 3 columns? (I know how to increase the number of projects viewed, but would like 5 columns not 3).

2.) On the pages that I embed the [portfolio], is there any way that I can have new projects appear on top of the list? (At the moment new projects are added to the bottom.)

    Many thanks!

The blog I need help with is aussieebooks.wordpress.com.

  2. Hello there,
Please use this link http://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization#postform so you can copy and paste your text into a thread that will appear in the CSS Forum where you will get definitive answers to your questions.

  3. Hi Timethief

Thank you for your reply. I'm not yet looking at adding the CSS customization option.

I would like to know if the portfolio functionality (on Illustratr theme) can be tweaked in the ways above without CSS.

I hope that all makes sense.

    Thank you.

  4. Hey Archer!

Right now your portfolio items are sorted from oldest to newest by default and this cannot be changed unfortunately. You may however change the number of columns in which they appear by adding the "columns=" attribute to the shortcode.

    [portfolio display_type=true columns=3 showposts=10]

Let me know if you need any further help. Cheers!

  5. Hi Druesome

Thanks for your response. Yes, I know how to change the columns when embedding the [portfolio] as per the attributes guideline link you've given.

But can I change the number of columns in the Portfolio Page Template?

    Thank you,

    ARCHER

  6. Hi again!

Right now there isn't a way I'm afraid. To get around this, I would create another page and insert the Portfolio shortcode and customize it to display items in 5 columns. Afterwards, go to Settings -> Reading and set the new page as your homepage.

Let me know if that helps. Thanks!

  7. Hi Druesome

    Thanks again for replying.

That's a real pity. I thought of doing what you suggested, but then the new projects are added to the bottom rather than the top.

I am planning to go premium so that I can use CSS. Would I be able to customize this then?

    Thanks again for your time.

    ARCHER

  8. Hey Archer,

Unfortunately, the number of columns can't be increased with CSS. I'm really sorry about that.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help.

  9. Thanks, Druesome. I appreciate all your help.

    All the best,

    ARCHER
