Customizing tools are not loading

  1. After purchasing the upgrade, I've found that the customizing tools are not longer working. They do not load at all. Also, I can not preview any other themes....

I've read a view similar posts and thought the problem was a unpublished page, draft etc, but I cannot find the anything wrong. I've now deleted all my categories and pages in hope that it would eliminate the problem, but no...

Does anybody have a solution? Thank you

The blog I need help with is kreatyves.wordpress.com.

  2. If that does not do the trick then you will need to work through what follows and report back to us.

    1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.

    2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html

    3. If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/

    (a) Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050

If applicable see here for instructions on how to clear the cache for Chrome and Safari on the iPad:
    http://browsers.about.com/od/howtousemobilebrowser1/ss/safari-ipad-clear-cache.htm
    http://browsers.about.com/od/howtousemobilebrowser1/ss/How-To-Clear-Browsing-Data-In-Chrome-For-Ipad_6.htm

    (b) Make sure that you have both third-party cookies enabled and JavaScript enabled
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
    http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12654

    (c) Disable all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily.

    (d) Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

Add both *.wordpress.com and *.wp.com to your list of trusted sites under the Security tab. Make sure to uncheck the box for “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.” http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/#frequently-asked-questions

    4. Try using another browser.

    5. If you are not successful let us know:
    (a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
    (b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/
    (c) And what any error reports you receive state.

  3. WOw, thank you for you quick response, I've double checked all of your suggestions but i'm still having no luck.
I have also used Safari 7. I used this to edit the blog, all was well until a couple of hours ago. I tried switching browsers, I tried Mozilla but nothing changed.

I am using a Macbook Air OS X Version 10.9

I have received no error messages....

Is there anything else I can try?

  4. I'll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

  5. * That was meant to read "I have ALWAYS used Safari 7" *

  6. I'd like to help you out, but I will need more information from you.

Has this issue just started since upgrading to Mavericks and Safari 7? Did you have issues prior to upgrading?

If you go to http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/ does it show that you have third-party cookies enabled?

You might try logging out of WordPress.com, clearing your browser cache, and then logging back in.

Please let me know which internet service provider you are using, as we have had some recent reports of issues with some ISPs.

  7. Hello, thanks for helping.
Since upgrading to Mavericks wordpress ran smoothly for a few days. Its only since today that I've been experiencing this problem.

I followed your link and it confirms that all third party cookies are properly enabled.

I will try logging out and clearing the cache.....

  8. No change of circumstance here....

My internet service provider is UPC Cablecom.

  9. Are you running any browser extensions or add-ons of any kind?

  10. No that I can see... I am checking in Safari preferences, and no, there are none.

  11. I have just logged into my partners WordPress blog using the same computer and accessed the customizing tools with no problem...

Is this information any help at all?

  12. Yes. I have a suspicion it's either a browser add-on OR possibly your virus protection. Some of them blacklist parts of WP.com at times. McAfee is particularly bad for this. If yours has a support forum, do a quick check there to see if other WP users are reporting this problem there. If so, that's probably the cause and they will need to fix it.

  13. I have no add-ons or virus protection.

  14. I appreciate your patience. Since I last posted, I have checked your blog and I am able to reproduce this behavior. I've reported it to our developers, and I will keep you posted.

  15. Customize tools are not loadind to me too. I tried to access some of the options of the new theme "Writr" and could not.

  16. No matter what browser I use, I just can not.

  17. Only in non resposive themes customizing tools are working.

  18. Thank you jackiedana, I appreciate your help!

  19. @radtrad it does not appear that you have the Custom Design upgrade on any of your blogs.

Were you unable to use the features of the Customizer like the Header and Site Title options, which do not require the upgrade, or were you unable to commit font, color or CSS changes?

  20. It seems that the problem was solved, but I was unable to commit font, color, CSS changes and access some theme options that are in the custom design area (like in the new theme Writr).

  21. @radtrad, you will need the upgrade in order to commit those changes. Without Custom Design you can only preview them.

You should however be able to use theme-specific options for free themes.

  22. I know that, but the problem was with the preview (in my case).

  23. @radtrad: Are you still unable to preview any of these custom design features on your blog when you have Writr or other themes selected, or is that resolved? Could you please clarify what issues you are still having, and take a screenshot for what you see, and upload it to your media library?http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/

  24. It is resolved now.

  25. The problem persisted on days 1 and 2 of November.

  26. Thanks for letting me know.

  27. @kreatyves it looks like the Customizer is working again for me. Can you try it yourself and let me know how it goes?

  28. Hello again Jackiedana.

The customiser now appears. However, if I try to make a change, I do see a preview. In particular customising my font is proving extremely difficult. It seems I can only preview the changes made if I refresh my page. Maybe you noticed that too??

Radtrad I think we are talking about different issues!
