Dates don't work

  1. I'm trying to do a "blog" of the protagonist in _Cold Mountain_ (see http://frigidprecipice.wordpress.com/ ). I set the dates of each post to a date in the 1860s (the time period of the novel). However, WordPress acts... weird. From the homepage, it shows the date as today. If you go to the actual article, the permalink is structured like /1864/09/01/postname/, but the date still says (at the bottom) that it was posted on the current day. The same thing happens on another blog I did a few years ago (that didn't USE to have the issue): http://ethanallen.wordpress.com/ (it has a different theme and everything).

Oh, and as far as widgets, the archives detect the "real" (1864) date, whereas the calendar doesn't.

The blog I need help with is frigidprecipice.wordpress.com.
