Dear WordPress, I would like to delete blog posts from an old blog, but it is not letting me. The "trash" feature states
" Whoa there! It looks like you don't have permission to do that. You should try contacting your site admin and see if they can help."

The blog I need help with is reasonablyliberal.wordpress.com.

The blog I need help with is not reasonablyliberal.wordpress.com

  4. You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog's dashboard and delete posts.

Clicking this link should display all your blogs registered under the same username, including the hidden ones: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs&show=hidden

If you do not see the blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/ then
    follow this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#my-blogs-dashboard-visibility

If you have lost your log-in information you can visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

If required please complete the form for account recovery at this link https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery and submit it to the Account Recovery Staff so they can contact you by email ie. not on these public support forums which are available to everyone with internet access.

    Hi,

Yes, I went to the Dashboard and to Users. All of my 4 blogs state that I am the Administrator. But when I try to delete more than, say, 2 posts, a red screen comes up stating: " Whoa there! It looks like you don't have permission to do that. You should try contacting your site admin and see if they can help."
    But I am the Administrator.

  6. What is the exact site you are talking about, starting with http?

  8. Do you just want to delete some posts, or do you want to completely empty the site?

If you want to empty it, then please follow the instruction at: http://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site/ otherwise try deleting the post once more. Hopefully it works now.

    Hi.

I just wanted to delete some posts. Over time, I may delete most of them. It's still giving me that same message:
" Whoa there! It looks like you don't have permission to do that. You should try contacting your site admin and see if they can help."
It gives me that message with a red screen.

  10. You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog's dashboard and delete posts.

It gives me that message with a red screen.

That means you are not logged in under the correct username account. Go back to what I posted above here http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/dear-wordpress-i-would-like-to-delete-blog-posts-from-an-old-blog?replies=9#post-1875099 and follow through please.

I just logged completely out and logged back in.

My blog reasonablyliberal.wordpress.com seems to have completely disappeared. This is not good. I wanted to keep that one.

http://reasonablyliberal.wordpress.com/ is still there, but I do not see it in My Blogs or the Dashboard.

http://tombreyfogle.wordpress.com/ can be found in My Blogs and the Dashboard.

I would like to at least have http://reasonablyliberal.wordpress.com/ back.

I have reset my password, but I still have the same problem.

  18. It should work now. Please try once more.

    Hi,

My blog is back. This is good.

However, I am still unable to delete or "trash" a post when I go into My Blogs and Posts. I get the red screen.

I am able to log into my blog just fine. All blogs say I am the administrator. I don't think I should need to find some old code at account recovery.

  20. Can you please try clearing out your cache and cookies using the guide below?

    OK, I tried that.

I am still not able to delete the posts from my old blog.

  22. Hi there,

I'm sorry for the continued trouble with this. Just to check, are you trying to trash the posts by going to your My Blogs page, clicking on the "Posts" link, and then clicking the Trash icon under the post there? Or are you going to your blog's dashboard, then to Posts > All Posts, and clicking the Trash link there? Please let me know if it works from one place but not the other.

If you don't mind, I'd also like to test this by trying to trash one of the posts on your blog. Can you send me a link to one or two posts you want to delete?

    Yes that is correct.
And when I hit the Trash icon, a red screen comes up and states:
" Whoa there! It looks like you don't have permission to do that. You should try contacting your site admin and see if they can help."

I want to delete things at http://tombreyfogle.wordpress.com/

    For example, you could delete:
    http://tombreyfogle.wordpress.com/2014/03/02/as-accusations-of-fascism-fly-churchills-quote-comes-to-mind/

    Or you could delete:
    http://tombreyfogle.wordpress.com/2014/03/07/turning-off-russian-channels/

    Or you could delete:
    http://tombreyfogle.wordpress.com/2014/06/10/2nd-x-flare-in-progress-now/

  24. You need to log out and clear your browser cache and cookies.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies

Then you need to log in under the correct username account.

    I tried all that.

I have noticed this mostly seems to happen with "re-blogs."

I seem to be able to delete my own posts that are not "re-blogs."

  26. Thanks for sharing those details. It does indeed look like this is an issue with how reblogs are handled. I'm checking with our team now to see if we can get that straightened out for you. :)

  27. Hi there,

Our developers just launched a fix for this. Can you try trashing those posts again? If you continue to have trouble with it, please let me know. :)

Thanks, WordPress. It looks like it works and I can delete them.

  29. Excellent! Thanks for letting us know. :)
