I've successfully transferred my domain to a new registrar (bluehost) but the domain name is still appearing in my domain management and causing redirect issues. Is there some way to remove it?
Blog url: http://swampsterbate.wordpress.com/

If you’ve registered your domain through WordPress.com and now want it to point to a blog or website hosted elsewhere then you can do this by updating the nameservers. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers Have you done that?

I went through the process of transferring the domain name to Bluehost through their "domain transfer service". I have control of the domain now through bluehost and the hosting is working but it was never removed from my wordpress.com account.
I would consider just updating the DNS to point to my new hosting but I'm not sure if it's too late for that.

Do nothing and I'll flag this so Staff respond to you. Please be patient while waiting.

Thanks timethief! (nice handle btw ;)
-
I took it years before those snapper whippers and special snowflakes gave it a negative connotation. ;)
-
I don't see any domain registrations under your account.
What was the domain name?
-
The domain name is davepires.com and needs to be removed from swampsterbate.wordpress.com
-
I'll need to see the request from the dpires user who owns this upgrade.
-
No problem, how should he submit it? Also, will deleting the registered domain from his WordPress.com account solve the redirect issues we're having?
Thanks!
-
Just have him log in and reply to the thread here.
It won't have any bearing on how the domain operates. It is properly pointed to Bluehost. What sort of issue are you having?
-
We ran through the "transfer a domain to Bluehost" that Bluehost offers and it all seemed successful.
I have control of it within bluehost and the nameservers updated to bluehost, but when you visit the address davepires.com it still redirects to swampsterbate.wordpress.com.
Alternatively, if you visit www.davepires.com it seems to be working with the new host. /shrug

I definitely see it at Bluehost right now.
When a domain is registered or altered, there is a process called propagation, where information about the domain name is passed to internet service providers all over the world. This process can take up to 72 hours (though usually much less). During that time, you may also receive a warning message in your browser about "redirect errors". Unfortunately, we have no control over this as it all depends on how often your internet service provider updates their records. Please rest assured that everything is proceeding normally with your domain.
-
Okay, great. So the propagation must have started this morning when I switched the nameservers?
-
Yes, that's when it starts.
-
Hey, just want to submit my permission to remove davepires.com from swampsterbate.wordpress.com, thanks.
-
I have canceled and refunded your domain mapping as requested.
Please let us know if you need any further assistance!
-
Great, thanks for all your help macmanx! Hopefully this solves the redirect issue.
Just out of curiosity… when you visit http://davepires.com does it still redirect to swampsterbate.wordpress.com for you too?
Thanks again.
-
No, I see the site on Bluehost, as mentioned earlier. :)
