   Hi,

   Now that WordPress.com allow people to sign up to just get an Akismet key without creating a blog, I was wondering if it was possible to delete my WordPress.com hosted blog but keep my key?

   Dumb question but what is an Akismet key and what does it do outside of not having a blog here anymore? What else can I do with this key?

   dashboard -> users -> your profile
   Your Profile and Personal Options
   -> look to the right hand side right at the top
   Your WordPress.com API key is:
   Don't share your API key, it's like a password.
   This key is used to secure a copy of akismet for use on a self-hosted or web hosted blog.

   It allows you to use Akismet elsewhere besides the wp.com servers. It's like the code you had to put into windows when you installed it.

   It's actually a deep dark conspiracy of Matt's to track usage and...

   Nah... we aren't that popular yet. I've yet to come across akismet torrents ;)
