DELETE MY DAMN ACCOUNT! NOW! IDIOTS! WordPress.com "SUCKS"

  1. I am having the same issue being unable to delete my blog/account. I have tried four times over the span of weeks, following the directions but never receive a confirmation email. I have tried changing the email address associated with my blog, but still no deletion confirmation. I receive other emails from WordPress just fine, but not the delete email.

The blog I need help with is whitebuck.wordpress.com.

  2. Don't panic. Simply make the blog private while you wait. To change blog visibility to Private go to Dashboard > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3 . See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

Then look in your email client spam filter and I'll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

  3. Hi there,

@whitebuck- Your site has been deleted.

@thepeculiarpatissiere- Have you checked your Spam folder? Sometimes are emails end up in there. If not, please let me know.

  4. Hi there,

Please note that WordPress.com accounts are permanent. You can find more info about that here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/

If you are trying to unsubscribe from emails sent to you from WordPress.com, go to Email Delivery Settings and click on "Block Emails":

    http://wordpress.com/#!/read/subsettings/

Here's a few suggestions for you if you'd like to scrub the account:

    1) You can also go here to remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This will only leave the username behind:

    http://wordpress.com/#!/settings/

    2) To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:

    http://www.thebitmill.com/tools/password.html

    3) While you cannot completely delete your Gravatar profile, you can remove all of your profile information easily through the "Edit My Profile" page here:

    http://en.gravatar.com/profiles/edit/?noclose#about-you

You can also hide your Gravatar profile from external access. Visit your profile page (click your name in the top navigation of the website), then click the "Hide My Profile" link in the bottom, right-hand corner.
