Delete post date and comment section

  1. I'm using the Wire Template and would like to get rid of the post date and comment section on my first page. Also, can I add an image to my header, not as a header background, however...?

    The blog I need help with is mybumpnyc.com.

  2. @mybumpnyc, I'm seing the Fontfolio, Fiore, and Sunspot on the sites linked to your username account right now, but I do see you purchased Wire for http://mybumpnyc.com/.

    To get rid of the post dates, go to Appearance > Custom Design > CSS tab in your dashboard and add the following to your custom CSS below any existing CSS you have.

    .entry-meta {
    	display: none;
    }

    You can turn comments off on any post or page from within the page editor. Open the page in the editor, click on "screen options" at upper right and make sure the discussion module is activated and then scroll down below the text area and in the discussion module, deselect allow comments and allow trackbacks.

    Also, can I add an image to my header, not as a header background, however...?

    Are you talking about to replace the text based site title? If so, upload your image to your media library (something around 600px wide by 200px tall looks like it would work nicely), get the URL of that image, and paste the following code into your CSS and replace URL OF IMAGE between the quote marks, with the full URL of your image. Leave your text based site title in at Settings > General because that second declaration in the code below puts the title way off to the left out of site so the search engines can still find it.

    .logo {
    	background: url("URL_OF_IMAGE") no-repeat scroll center top transparent;
    	text-indent: -9999px;
    }

    If you also wish to hide the site description/tag line, add the following as well.

    .site-description {
    	text-indent: -9999px;
    }
