delete privacy setting

  1. hello wordpress team,

a little favor, could you kindly remove my pricvacy setting so that anyone can follow/search me? I did try the one in the general setting but my friend still could not search me.

I hope to recieve your reply.

The blog I need help with is definitelystephy.wordpress.com.

  2. also, is it possible to transfer my blogs from stephyteph.wordpress.com to definitelystephy.wordpress.com?

  3. How is your friend trying to search for you? If they are trying to search through a search engine like Google, it may take some time for them to crawl and cache your site, so that it shows up in search results.

  4. they are actually searching through wordpress. but they could not search me, unless I will be the one to invite them first.

  5. Hmm. I'll flag this so a Staff member can take a look at your account and see what's up.

  6. great! thank you.

  7. can you also check my second question, is it possible?

  8. ...stephyteph, your blog is currently available to anyone who wants to read it. Your blog is not private. If you want your friend to find you, give them the URL.

If you own both URL's, it is possible to move all of the contents from one blog to the other. Follow these instructions:

    1. Go to your dashboard
    2. Find 'Tools' in the sidebar
    3. Select 'Export'
    4. Select: "Create an XML file..."
    5. Save your XML file to your computers hard drive.

    1. Go to the dashboard of the blog you want to move stuff to...
    2. Find 'Tools' in the sidebar
    3. Select 'Import'
    4. Select: 'Import posts, pages, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags from a WordPress export file.' (XML)
    5. Find and select the XML file you just downloaded to your hard drive.

Now all the content from one blog, will be added to the other, without deleting anything.

  9. Oops, didn't see that. To transfer your posts from one blog to another, follow the directions at: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-between-wordpress-com-blogs

  10. Oops, @johnnytesting looks like we posted at the same time.

If I understand correctly, I think the concern is that @stephyteph's friend isn't seeing her blog in the search on wordpress.com.

  11. awesome! really appreciate for the prompt reply.
i'll try this. thanks to the two of you - Andrew and Johnny! :))

  12. You're welcome!

  13. yes @andrewcpht. you're right!

  14. another thing, I am only using an ipad. is it possible to perform the transferring of blogs using only this?

  15. Not sure where on WordPress the friend would be searching, but on Google: stephyteph / definitelystephy / definitelystephy.wordpress.com they all come up fine.

  16. @johnnytesting thanks for pointing that out.

@stephyteph It might be possible, but the WordPress.com interface isn't really optimized for the iPad. Using a desktop or laptop computer would be better.

  17. okay thanks. I'll just ask again my friend about this.
one last thing, I recieve a notification last week that I have a follower but I could not find her. can you check that?

  18. Don't know about iPad but on your Stats page there is a section called "Totals, Followers & Shares" - one of the entries is Followers

  19. yes, i saw that. but the one appeared on the email notification is not there. I know I need to approve that first but I don't know how and where.

  20. You don't "approve" followers - if you have the subscribe by email Widget all a person needs to do is click on it and confirm the subscription - you have nothing to do with subscribers

You can set your blog to require comments to be approved if you want

  21. i believe the email notification says that I need to approve my friend who've been trying to follow me.

As for the one you've mentioned about comments, how can I remove that too? I don't want to approve comments before displaying it to my page.

  22. The person who is trying to follow your blog has to confirm that they want to follow you by clicking a link in an email. You do not have to approve them. If you can copy and paste the exact text that makes you believe otherwise, maybe we can help clear up the confusion.

I normally recommend NOT allowing comments to be posted without moderation, because spam can still get through the filters sometimes. If you do want to modify your comment settings, you can go to your Dashboard -> Settings -> Discussion.

  23. here's the email I received -

    WordPress.com
    to me
    Howdy,

The WordPress.com user 'paulateresa' requested access to view your private site at http://definitelystephy.wordpress.com/

Want to give them access to view this site? Click on this link: http://definitelystephy.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php?action=add_user&user_login=paulateresa

If you don't want this person to be able to view http://definitelystephy.wordpress.com/, simply ignore this email, and they will not receive access to your private site.

To see a list of users who have access to http://definitelystephy.wordpress.com/, visit http://definitelystephy.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php

    Cheers,

    The WordPress.com Team

  24. This means the other person was trying to visit your site while it was set to Private. Now that it is not set to Private, they should have no problem visiting your site without your approval.

  25. okay got it. thanks!!! :))

  26. You're welcome! Glad it got figured out.
