I know there is a lot of information on this topic already, unfortunatly it is not composed such that a novice can understand. I have a site, lets call it example.wordpress.com. I thought I could purchase something that would make it example.com, but would leave the site the same, and let me transfer existing statistics and traffic.

Is this a domain change? If so, does executing the domain change reset all of the statistics of the site?

The blog I need help with is commonwealthverses.wordpress.com.

Yes, and that's called domain mapping. See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

  3. NOTE: There is no transferring of content at all involved The content is still in the same blog and is still being free hosted by WordPress.com. All that changes is the URL.

  4. PS

If so, does executing the domain change reset all of the statistics of the site?

N0 - since nothing is transferred - no stats are lost

does purchasing "site redirect" fix this?

  7. No, not at all. You have the old URL AND the new URL. You won't have any FB or G+ stats until somebody shares the new URL to those platforms.
