Deleted Blog Address - Want to Start New Blog with Same Address

    Hi,

    I recently (yesterday) created and then deleted a blog at the address ReviewableMatters.wordpress.com.

    I would like to start a new blog with the same blog address but wordpress is telling me that the address is already in use. However, when I try and access the ReviewableMatters.worpress.com blog, I am told that the blog is deleted.

    Is there a time period that I must wait before the blog address is available again?

    Please let me know.

    Blog URL's are never re-used, not even by the original owner. You had to agree to three different warnings about this before actually deleting the blog. Why would you set up a blog and delete it in one day, and then want it back the following day? Was there a plan? You can of course use domain mapping if you want that URL name, but you won't get the free URL name back on WordPress, not even if you wait.

    Wow - that strikes me as a bit strange.

    So, theoretically, I could spend my time opening and deleting as many account names as possible thereby preventing anyone and everyone from ever using the names?

    While I admit it is a bit far flung, it is a bit strange no?

    But would you really want to do that? And this is for everyone's protection. What if someone else re-used your deleted URL name, and used it in a 'bad' way, and everyone thought it was you?

    I of course see your point - however, I guess I feel that it would be a bit juvenile to put any kind of personal information (identification) in a blog address.

    By the same token, there is nothing preventing anyone from starting a blog address with someone else's name and using it in a "bad" way.

    Just seems like overkill to me - that said, I realize my opinion does not count for much.

    Too bad you deleted the blog. I always suggest bloggers make the blog "private" because they may want to use it again one day in the future and deleted blog URLs here are not recycled.

    You can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

    Or you can register a domain vis a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

    Actually @smcag i am an artist and have used my real name in blog URL's so i don't consider it juvenile at all. Many artists, poets etc need to use their real name. I consider WordPress gold for not allowing the re-use of URL's, and i hope they never change.

    I accidentally made a new blog in an account I did not want to be logged into. I would now like to separate this blog from the others, so when the blogger logs in they don't have access to the other accounts. Is there a way to do this without creating a whole new blog?
