Deleted Home Page

    I screwed up and accidentally deleted (and deleted it out of the trash can) my home page. I have tried everything I can think of and cannot fix it correctly. I have made a new home page. I have made a new menu. I still end up with 2 homes in the menu. Is there some way that I can turn off that page so it is private? I guess I could if I hadn't deleted it. I don't want to have to delete the blog as I love the name!

    Thank you for any and all help :-) I do know HTML and have the idea of CSS but am not comfortable with it. I would even let you log in to fix it cuz I can always change my password to "STUPID" :-) Love, Grandma Patty Ann

    Did you want your main landing page, your home page, to show your posts, or did you want a static front page and then have your posts on a different page?

    I would like for it to show posts. The problem I am having is getting the old home tab out of the menu. You can see it here:

    I can get rid of the black 'home' but not the red one. Before the red one was giving me page error saying it was not there.

    The red one is not giving me an error page now. Maybe I can go ahead and delete the black one?

    The one that came with the theme is not an actual Page and it cannot be deleted. When clicked it will return your visitors to the front page of your blog.

    I wondered how I did it. I deleted the words off of it and then the next day it said it was not there. Thank you so much. Now I just have to go in and play with the order of the pages I guess. Now the red home page is over in the middle instead of on the end. Thank you so much for helping me. I may be back! LOL!

    Ok. I deleted the homepage I made. The home went back over to the left where it was in the beginning and now on the page I get the error message

    404 Not Found

    Apologies, but the page you requested could not be found. Perhaps searching will help.

    And there is no edit button for me to click on like there used to be.

    You are getting he 404 error because you have no posts. WordPress cannot find anything to display on the main page.

    Create a post and publish it and the post will show up on the main page and the error will go away.

    Ok. I made a title and I wrote a sentence and published it. I am still getting the error page ~ yet when I go to posts it shows I made a post. I looked at all the pages and there is no post.

    If I click on preview page I can see it and that url is:

    Go to settings > reading and near the top select "Front Page Displays __ Your latest posts" and then save your changes and view your blog.

    HEY! I remembered this afternoon going in to the reading under settings to see I could do anything back there to fix it and I thought I was going to have to make a static page. I just went back in and deselected static and my page is back.
