Deleted my blog. Can't create a new blog with that url under new username

    I wanted to change my username, so I deleted my blog; also clicked on the link in the confirmation email. Then I created a new desired username. And tried to create a new blog with my old deleted url. WordPress says that this url already exists. But when I goto that url, it says that this blog has been deleted by the user.

    Anyone knows how long does it take for deleted blog urls to return to the available urls list?

    The URL is gone. I think it even states that in the confirmation email.

    Thanks for your reply, but this FAQ only deals with 'unused' blogs. My question was for 'deleted' blog. There is nothing which says that 'Wordpress won't recycle deleted blog urls'.

    In any case, I made a big mistake by deleting my blog in order to change my username :(

    Seems like I'll have to do away with this new username altogether. I can't access my account settings as this username (XXX) is the same as the blog url (XXX.wordpress.com) which I deleted from my previous username. I don't know if it is a bug or not, but it is very frustrating. WordPress shouldn't allow for a new username to be created if a blog with that username was deleted by a user before. This should be considered as a suggestion, not as any sort of blame. I love wordpress, though.

    I would suggest sending in a feedback before deleteing any more blogs. I would have thought you had learned your lesson the first time through. ;)

    The FAQ also talks about deleteing blogs for reuse. Here's another FAQ as well as many times here in the forums.

    I have created a new blog under this new username. The url is http://techiliciou5.wordpress.com. After I created this blog, I was able to access my account settings. I wanted http://techilicious.wordpress.com which I previously deleted, but I guess techiliciou5 sounds and looks equally cool, if not better.
