Deleting Another User's Inactive Site

  1. I know WordPress doesn't delete sites sue to inactivity, but I have to ask about this anyway. It's important to me.

There is a site called http://outoftheblue.wordpress.com/. It hasn't ever been used or updated, just created back in 2006.

It would mean a great deal to me if I could use the name outoftheblue. However, this 6-year inactive and unused blog is preventing me.

Is it really not possible to delete it?

  2. Good day to you,

There is no expiration date on blogs unused or otherwise. If you can make contact on your own with the owner of an unused blog then there is a means of a consenting blog owner to transfer the blog to another username account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account In the case that there is no contact information Staff will not breach the privacy policy and provide you with an email address.

if you are not successful, you can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

  3. Is it really not possible to delete it?

There is no recycling of deleted blog URLs here at WordPress.com. Confirm by reading http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/ and

  4. Okay thank you.
