Deleting my Blog

I have tried to delete my blog multiple times, using two email addresses. Both times it told me that it has sent a confirmation email to my address, and both times nothing arrived. I have checked my spam and junk folders etc etc - trust me when I say that nothing came. Help?

The blog I need help with is awaywithworlds.wordpress.com.

  2. I've marked this for staff to look at. Please be patient.

Hey, thankyou - I didn't know that was possible.
Just when you posted that comment my other blog (awaywithworlds.com - no wordpress in the url) started going crazy. When I try to get onto it I am presented with an 'Error establishing a database connection'.
Are these connected or am I in the clear?

False alarm, it looks like it's working fine again!

That site is not being hosted by WordPress.com and you are posting to the wrong support forum. We cannot help you here. Support for your website software and any advice you need are provided on the WordPress.org support forums and they are here http://wordpress.org/support/

If you don't have a username account at WordPress.org, click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the iOs forums.

  6. @blindkingofbohemia. Am I right in thinking that you have a wordpress.com blog that you want to delete and a SEPARATE self-hosted one, both of which were behaving rather badly? If so, and if your WordPress.com one is still not letting you delete it, then I'll let the Modlook tag stay. But if this is not the case, please let me know so that I can remove it tomorrow (I'm in UK time, so won't be in the forum for the next few hours).

  7. @timethief, the OP mentioned two different blogs, one of which appears to be a wordpress.com one.

You are correct in thinking that :) thank you. The self-hosted ones bad behaviour was unrelated, and I still can't delete the wordpress.com one.

  9. Okay, thanks for your reply. I'll let the modlook tag stay. It might take staff a while to get back to you as they tend not to work here at weekends, and then they often have a backlog.

One thought, though: did you buy a domain from here? If so, it might be that you need to keep the WordPress.com blog for billing purposes or something like that.

The best advice is usually to keep the WordPress.com blog but just make it private. That way if you ever want or need to return to it, you can, as blog names are never recycled. So after deleting you'd never be able to get it back again.

    Anyway, hang on there.

Thank you for the help :)

My only concern, really, is SEO - will making the blog private remove it from Google results etc? If so, I suppose that's good enough for me.

No, I didn't purchase the domain from WordPress.

Made the site private, problem solved. Thank you so much :)

  12. You're welcome. I've removed the 'modlook' tag, but if you need any further help on this issue, please let us know. If you're happy with the result, please mark this topic 'Resolved'. Thanks.
