Deleting quickly the blog

  1. I need urgently to delete the blog, I follow the instructions but I do not receive the email to confirm the cancelation

The blog I need help with is spfunhcr.wordpress.com.

  2. Why 'urgent'?

The simplest way to hide it quickly is to make it Private:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

  3. I don't want this blog to appear in a google (or any other engine) search.
It's urgent because we have a new blog active and the existence of the two is creating confusion.
I need to cancel the spf blog!

  4. I don't want this blog to appear in a google (or any other engine) search.

WP has no control over what search engines index or for how long after a deletion. Even if it was deleted in the next few minutes, it could appear in search engines for weeks or months.

Again, see the Privacy options and check --"Ask search engines not to index this site. "

At least until Staff can assist with the deletion.

  5. It's urgent because we have a new blog active and the existence of the two is creating confusion.

Then don't delete the blog - buy the Site Redirect upgrade and that will send all the traffic to your new site and that will help the search engines learn that the old blog should not be used - once a blog is deleted all your visitors will hit a blog not found wall and be real lost -

The other option is to clear the content from the old blog and leave a note that you have moved to a new address and have a link to click on - sending your visitors into a deleted blog wall is very very bad for your traffic

  6. The problem is that users already know the link to the new blog (which is another wordpress link) , and then, since the previous one comes first in google search, it creates confusion.

We agreed in the office to cancel the previous one, but even I follow the instruction, I do not receive the confirmation email...

And then I would need to remove the old link from google search and allow the new one becoming on top of the list.

  7. If you want to do ANYTHING with Google (and they are only one of many search engines) - you need to prove ownership of the URL and you can't do that with a deleted blog - Google sort of updates things somewhere between 3 and 6 months - but after 2 years with a moved blog Google still digs up old links from 2.5 years ago -

Sounds like to me you should clear all the content from the old blog and leave the 'We have moved" note -

users already know the link to the new blog

That is only true for regular users - people that come to your site from a search engine DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE NEW ADDRESS - so why run them into a wall? -

  8. Sounds like to me you should clear all the content from the old blog and leave the 'We have moved" note -

    Uh-huh.

Always leave a trail when moving.
