Directing comment clicks to a particular blog

  1. When you leave a comment on a WordPress blog site, clicking on your name in the comment links the reader to your default blog.

Is there a way to specify on a case by case basis, which blog to go to for which comment? When commenting on blogger blogs, there is a line to specify
this by typing your blog name.

It would be nice when commenting on technical blogs to have clicks go to your technical blog and not your family blog and vice versa.

The blog I need help with is threecatyard.wordpress.com.

  2. Have you checked here? My Comments page tracks comments you’ve made across WordPress.com so you can see when people reply to you. It will show your comment, one before yours, and replies after yours. The thread with the latest replies will be at top. http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-comments/

  3. But when I click on oldcat's link, I'll still land on their default blog, not necessarily whichever one that oldcat would find more relevant for me to visit if I clicked on their link in a tech blog as opposed to some other sort of blog.

I don't think that there's a way to specify which blog your link leads to on a case-by-case basis.

  4. Try logging out - then you will have a bunch of boxes to fill in - put the URL you want to into the field - sort of clumsy but I have done it a few times when checking how things are working.

  5. Thanks for the ideas, I was wondering if I was missing something. One idea I had was to put my own link in the text of the message.

That might be a nice feature to add at some point, to let you pick the return blog link from a list for wordpress users.

  6. Don't put your own link in the body. If you do that a few times, you'll be flagged as spam. Just log out and put in whatever URL you want.

  7. I was visiting a friends blog today and there is a "Guest" option for the comments on WordPress.COM blogs - if you click on "Guest" it opens up a fill in the form with your new contact info - email / name / website - you do need to put the info in but if your browser works like mine (Firefox) it remembers what I typed in the boxes the last time - if I have more than one entry for the box I can put in the first letter and it will bring up those starting with that letter.

So to test the above I left two comments and worked fine as different people.

  8. that sounds even easier than logging out. Thanks auxclass!

  9. You be welcome
