1weaverhi, my latest post shows 8 'likes' but my stats page shows no increase in visitors. how can this be? (my posts feeder only gives the first paragraph of a post)

Likes and shares are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can "like" and "share" your posts in several locations such as the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat.
http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/07/09/wordpress-followers-likes-and-stats/WordPress.com stats are not real time stats. That means they take time to update. Also as I posted above one does not need to click into your blog and create a page view stat to click a like button.
Why don’t post/page views add up to total views?
Post/page views are included in total views, but there are many views to your site that are not a post or page URL. from your answer, i have to to deduce that readers are liking, which is lovely, but not really reading: my stats page allows me to see if someone is referred from an address either within or without of my site but thats a different issue, i guess. i do understand that stats can't be 'real-time'.
