discrepancybetween URL titles in editor
-
I renamed a blog title after publishing it.
Was: http://erinmidwife.com/2011/05/30/omg-you-did-not-just-clamp-out-a-third-of-my-babys-blood-supply/
I Changed the title of the post in my editor to “you-did-not-just-CUTT-OFF-a-third-of-my-babys-blood-supply” and in the editor the URL reflects the new title.
However, in use the URL to the piece still has the old title:
http://erinmidwife.com/2011/05/30/omg-you-did-not-just-clamp-out-a-third-of-my-babys-blood-supply/Any ideas?
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The permalink of the post doesn’t have to be identical to the displayed title, and doesn’t change automatically when you change the title. Anyway, if you wish to change it, you can edit the post and change the slug:

But since the post isn’t very new, changing the URL isn’t advisable as far as search engines are concerned. -

When you break a link (URL) it produces a “404” page not found error message. Any person clicking one of the old URLs which has already been indexed by search engines will experience a “404” page not found.

In time the search engines will re-index any content that has had the URL changed under the new URL. However, what will be in the search engine results is the old URLs which will produce “404’s” and it will take about 3 – 6 months for Google to clear their cavhe of the old URLs.
