Display more than just recent post title?

  1. Okay, so you know how in this theme the most recent post is displayed nicely below the featured area with a snippet of the post and the option to "read more"? Is there any way to make it so that the text of the most recent post appears in a similar format next to the featured image in that featured area? All I can figure out how to do is display only the titles of the most recent posts. I am using the free service so I don't believe I have CSS capabilities. I've been trying to figure out how to make this work but I don't even know how to search for the info I need. Please help if you can. Much appreciated. Cheers.

The blog I need help with is hotvelvet.wordpress.com.

  2. Sorry, I thought the link to my blog would be more prevalent. It's here:

    http://hotvelvet.wordpress.com/

  3. You can go to Appearance > Widgets, add a Text widget to the Homepage Top Right area, type or paste the beginning of the post in it (or a custom summary), save. Naturally you'll have to update the widget manually each time you publish a new post.

But this would be redundant (if you want the featured post to be the latest post), since it also shows up below the featured area. If you really want the beginning of the post next to the featured image, you'd better go to Appearance > Theme Options and check the option "Hide the most recent featured post in the home page blog".

  4. Okay, thank you. That's rather inconvenient so maybe I'll just try a different theme instead. Thanks for the help.
