Hey, I am writing in my blog as fanfiction and would like older posts first, leading up to newer posts (ascending order?) but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do it. I've seen code snipplets which I cannot do on the free WordPress so I'm wondering if there's another way?

I'm sorry but we cannot do that. All blogs display post in reverse chronological order with the most recently published post on top, as returning visitors are not inclined to click through hundreds of posts to locate what they came for ie: to read your most recent post. The only alternate structure you can create is a book-like structure and that works well for sequential story telling. http://en.support.wordpress.com/write-a-book/
