Display WordPress Posts Widget data not loading error message

    Hi,
I'm using the Display WordPress Posts widget for my WordPress.com blog (http://othersociologist.com/) with the theme Sundance. The widget doesn't work for my self-hosted blog (http://socialscienceinsights.com/). I get the error message: "We cannot load blog data at this time."

The same widget on this same blog, however, works for one of my other WordPress blogs.

Also, the widget works for both my self-hosted and WordPress.com blogs on my other site (http://zuleykazevallos.com/).

I've been trying to make it work for the past week. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the widget and waiting a few days and still nothing.
    Please help? Many thanks!

The blog I need help with is othersociologist.com.

  2. I'm not sure about this one, but from what you describe, it might be worth registering and asking in the forums over on wordpress.org, since you say that it's a self-hosted blog you are having problems with. I assume those are on the same host, so I doubt that's the problem either. It wouldn't hurt to ask over there.

Hi Thanks for responding! I'll cross post over there, but the problem I'm having is with the widget on my WordPress.com blog. (So it's not a plugin on a self-hosted site.) Plus the blog feed for my self-hosted is working on another one of my WordPress.com sites so I think it's some weird bug with my Worpress.com blog.

  4. I see neither that error nor that widget on http://othersociologist.com/.

    Hi raincoaster,
On the front end, it's under "FROM MY BUSINESS: SOCIAL SCIENCE INSIGHTS." It's empty.

Above that is "FROM MY PERSONAL SITE: DR ZULEYKA ZEVALLOS - SOCIOLOGY PROSE" That uses the same widget and it works.

    Thanks!

  6. What I see there is this:

</aside><aside id="jetpack_display_posts_widget-2" class="widget widget_jetpack_display_posts_widget"><h1 class="widget-title">From my Personal Site: Dr Zuleyka Zevallos - Sociology Prose</h1><div class="jetpack-display-remote-posts"><h4><a href="http://zuleykazevallos.com/2013/12/31/intercultural-education/">Context and Outcomes of Intercultural Education Amongst International Students in Australia</a></h4>

    <img src="http://zuleykazevallos.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/diac-faces-of-australia-crowd.jpg"></div><!-- .jetpack-display-remote-posts --></aside><aside id="jetpack_display_posts_widget-3" class="widget widget_jetpack_display_posts_widget"><h1 class="widget-title">From my Business: Social Science Insights</h1><p>We cannot load blog data at this time.</p></aside>
        <
  7. ah bugger, that doesn't display any better than the first one. What information exactly did you put inside the widget? It appears to be missing the actual link. In the first case, it has the info:

<div class="jetpack-display-remote-posts"><h4><a href="http://zuleykazevallos.com/2013/12/31/intercultural-education/">Context and Outcomes of Intercultural Education Amongst International Students in Australia</a>

That's basically all missing from the second. The title is there but not the link.

I've never seen all that 'ASIDE' stuff before in a widget.

Hi again raincoaster. Thanks for this. In the widget, I've put in my website address both in full http://socialscienceinsights.com/ but also without the "http://www" as I saw this caused the same problem in another forum. But either way, it doesn't help in my particular blog.

If you see on my other WordPress.com site, the Social Science Insights posts are coming up just fine under the same widget. (Look under RECENT POSTS: SOCIAL SCIENCE INSIGHTS).

  9. No, I get the same error there.

That's really strange. I've had the page open for a few hours and I've got a screen grab of it working there (I've still got it open). But now that I've reloaded the site on a new tab, it's not working. I don't know what's going on.

  11. For now, I suggest you just use an RSS widget and use the feed from that site.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've used RSS before. It's not really what I'm after. I'm hoping someone else might have an idea about what the issue is with this particular widget for my blog.

Appreciate you trying though. Have a good day/night!

  13. There appears to be a problem with the WordPress.ORG blog, not with the widget. I suggest you seek help over there.

As I noted it was working earlier today on my other blog. I can prove it. Not sure why it's no longer working now. I will check with WordPress.org too. If I get an answer there I will post back here. But again, the problem is presenting on WordPress.com with a widget from here.

If someone else can help here in the meantime, that would be super.

  15. I'm having what looks like exactly the same problem. On my blog http://stayontop.org/ with K2-Lite theme I have this widget in the side bar to display the latest post from my other blog (http://historyofmentalhealth.com/ with Elegant Grunge theme).
It worked fine for a week or so, but right now it's stubbornly displaying "We cannot load blog data at this time."
Because this happened after posting a new post in the second blog, my hunch is that there is (apparently) something in the content of that latest post that caused the widget to crash instead of displaying it. But what? I've no idea.
If this is going to happen frequently, I guess I'll just have to find some other way to show the latest post from blog B in the sidebar of blog A...
