Hi i purchased the 99 dollar bundle through wordpress.com and i also got my own domain name through wordpress.com. My issue is that my site isnt showing up because it says there is a DNS failure. Am i supposed to get my own server host or does wordpress.com host my blog for me. The domain name is already selected, i just need it to show up when i type it in. Please help this is my first time.

No. You follow this guide http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/register-domain/ to initiate domain mapping.
5. To activate your new domain go to Settings > Domains, select the button next to the one you wish to activate and click Update Primary Domain. Your blog will be accessible from both of these domains; the Primary Domain is what actually appears as your domain within the address bar of web browsers. If you do not see your blog at the new domain immediately, please allow some time for the DNS changes to propagate.
It can take up to 72 hours for the domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet but rarely does. Your site is already correctly redirecting for me from http://sociallyfirst.wordpress.com/ to http://http://sociallyfirst.com/
