Do not want ads I don't approve on my site

  1. I know you say you have to run ads on my or anybody's wordpress site to pay the bills, but unfortunately, sometimes questionable ads run and can be offensive. Readers will think I am placing the ads. I do not want my readers seeing inappropriate ads. You say you want to charge me $30 so you don't run ads. I am broke. Not paying my bills as it is. My husband had 3 heartattacks, I had to quit my job to care for him and my dying mother. So more bills are not good at this time. Please do not place ads on any of my blog sites. Thank you.

The blog I need help with is wisejunction.wordpress.com.

  2. The reality is that you entered a contract to get a free hosted blog here. The terms of that contract allow WordPress.com to place ads on your blog. If that does not suit and you will not purchase a No-Ads upgrade, then you can export your content out of your blog and import it into a blog elsewhere.

  3. To off-set the costs of providing free hosting to millions of bloggers, WordPress.com has been running advertising on our free hosted blogs since 2006. Many bloggers do not know this because despite the fact they ticked the box required to get a free blog, they did not read the ToS. Many also do not read the advertising entry in the support documents after registering their username and blog(s). Also note that as the ads do not display to us when we are logged in, and as many use browsers with ad blockers when logged out, they may not realize they are there at all.

All of WordPress.com ads are family-friendly. If you feel an ad is inappropriate please take a screenshot of it, upload it via Media -> Add New to your Media Library. Then return to this thread to post the file name to let Staff them know it's there for them to view.

  4. I'm sorry but I have seen questionable ads before. What I think is unacceptable, may not be to the WordPress ad placers. I understand the contract, I just want some kind of control of what comes on my page. No that this is an "ad" subject. But even going and doing searches before there were blog sites that were clearly child, teen and adult pornography, that came up when you did searches for things like "youth". I find this offensive and illegal and contacted WordPress, and they did nothing about it. I enjoy being a part of WordPress, but want to make sure things are descent for readers. I do not understand why, if you represent WordPress, why you are responding harshly and telling me to up and move my stuff off WordPress. Does WordPress not really care about Customer relations so to speak?

  5. I'm not a Staff member. I'm a Volunteer. Please take a screenshot http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/ and upload it to your Medial Library where Staff will examine it. Then return to this thread and post the file name so they can locate it.

  6. I will address this issue again when I have more time and come across things that I find inappropriate. For now I will live with the ads if they are clean and respectable. Thank you for your time and help.

  7. You're welcome.
