Do people have to sign on in order to like a post?

  1. Why do people have to sign onto WordPress to like a post? How can I put a Like button that links with Facebook?

    Thanks

  2. Yes indeed they do. You can click a Facebook like button unless you have a Facebook account. You can't click a WordPress.com like button unless you have a WordPress.com account.

You can have both Facebook like and share buttons on your posts.

  3. edit: You can't click a Facebook like button ...

  4. Also note that likes and shares numbers are misleading when you consider page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can "like" and "share" your posts in several locations such as the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat. Those who have username accounts only but no blog can become followers and click the "like" and/or "share" buttons. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/07/09/wordpress-followers-likes-and-stats/

  5. Thank you very much for your feedback. I'm completely new to this and finding it all a bit mind boggling!

  6. You're welcome. Just avoid developing any sense of urgency, use the work step by step learn WordPress.com tutorial Staff have provided and you will do fine. :)
