   I'm planning to get myname.com. Would it matter I go through Ipage or is it better to go get to them directly?

   You can register a domain name at WordPress.COM - they are a low cost registrar - or you can register a domain with many other registrars - the mechanics are about the same - then the domain name needs to be mapped to your blog -

   Domain mapping is the part that turns your-blog.wordpress.com into your-web-site.com

   Here are the steps once a domain name is registered
